Chinese star-rated hotels generate 52.58 billion yuan in Q4 2018

Some 9,760 out of the 10,375 star-rated hotels, or 94.06% of the hotels registered in China's national star-rated hotel management system,reported their operation data for the fourth quarter of 2018.
A total of 8,824 star-rated hotels passed the evaluation of provincial tourism administrations. Among those, 54 were one-star hotels, 1,457 two-star hotels, 4,209 three-star hotels, 2,315 four-star hotels and 807 five-star hotels.
The 8,824 star-rated hotels generated total revenues of 52.83 billion yuan in the fourth quarter, of which F&B incomes constituted 21.57 billion yuan, or 41.02%of total revenues, and room incomes totaled 23.25 billion yuan, or 44.22%.
In Q4 2018, the average room rate (ARR) of all star-rated hotels was 356.34 yuan per room night, up by 1.17%. The average occupancy rate (AOR) was 57.43%, down by 0.50%; revenue per available room (RevPAR) was 204.63 yuan, up by 0.66%; and the average operating income per room was 38,385.26 yuan, down by 2.38%.
Seven municipalities and provinces reported higher ARRs than the national average, and Shanghai ranked top with ARR of 795.64 yuan per room night, followed by Beijing, Hainan, Guangdong and Tianjin.
Eleven municipalities and provinces saw higher than the national average AOR. Beijing, Shanghai, Hainan, Fujian and Hunan were in the top five.The AOR of Beijing’s hotels was 67.58%.
